DECEMBER STORIES: Happy holidays, Portland Area Intergroup! Remember to stay safe and go to plenty of meetings while visiting your family… But seriously, the holidays are a tough time to be an active alcoholic. Most of us have memories of the guilt, shame and embarrassment of letting our families down during holidays past. Or maybe we remember the loneliness and isolation of feeling like we had no one in our lives during a season that celebrates family and friendship. These problems might be in the past for us, but there are millions of active alcoholics around the world experiencing that agony right now! Our job is to be there for them when they reach out. This month’s issue talks about protocol for 12 Step calls, how you can sign your group up to to be of service, and how service might get you through your own time of need. NEWS Nominations for Open Intergroup Positions ­ December IGR meeting It’s that time of year, fellow Portland Area Alcoholic, to go into a state of deep meditation to check in with your Higher Power(s) and see if a position at Portland Area Intergroup is right for you! Elections for the following positions will take place at the December Intergroup meeting: ­Advisory Board Chairperson ­ Recording Secretary Three members at large Nominations are open in November. An IGR can nominate him or herself, another IGR, or a qualified AA member. One can stand for an elected position by stating “I’m available”, when the body is polled in December. For more information, show up at the Intergroup meeting on the 2nd Monday of every month (details at pdxaa.com/events), or contact the Intergroup Office at 1212@pdxaa.com NOVEMBER STORY: Once again, Alcoholicos Anonimos de Portland and ESL in AA will be pushed back a month to November December.
